Yesterday while shopping, I found the most devine black BABY PHAT puff jacket. SO excited! After snatching it off the rack and throwing it at the sales girl proclaiming "I MUST HAVE IT", anyone would have thought I had found a one off CHANEL designed jacket for the bargain price of $69 (USA $250). Im sure the sales girl thought I was a nut, but she understood that you just can't find the BABY PHAT brand anywhere.

It's Happy 39th Birthday to me today! Im in the last year of my 30's, and can I say the best year's of one's life. If I could some how stop time, it would be now.

The teens are such an emotional, mixed up ,full of question's kidda years.

The 20's are trying to figure out who you are. You make bad decisions on men, fashion, hair styles, friends and most importantly money.
You tend to think your running out of time at the ripe old age of 25, and convinced your never going to look as good as you do right now, in a wedding dress! ( by the way, you will look at that dress for the next 50 years and say 'What was I thinking?'.You just don't seem to have it together, but you always land on your feet. If you make it through and learn from it, then the 30's look so much better.

Turning 30 give's you the right to say it how it is. Your a true adult now and you can't make excuses any more for your actions or misfortunes. Moving back home is just not an option, no matter how broke you are! You've gotta suck it up and get out in the world and make some life changing decisions that are right for you. Go with your gut and if it doesn't feel right then change it. Your in control.

So here's to my last year in the 30's and here's hoping it is one of the best ever, full of exciting new things and maybe a few surprises!

In your TEEN'S you dress for attention

In your 20's you dress for men

In your 30's you dress for success

In your 40's you dress like a 20 year old just to get noticed again!

In your 50's you dress in animal prints & bright coloured track suits.

In your 60's you dress for warmth in thermal underwear and beige coloured track suits

In your 70's you dress ready for the bathroom!

In your 80's you dress ready for bed!

For those of you that didn't religiously watch, live and breathe SATC every Thursday night from 1998 to 2004, will have no idea what I'm talking about.

After watching the movie, its obvious the brilliant people that wrote the series, had nothing to do with the actual movie. Where was all that witty and wonderful dialog that made the show such a hit?

I think I could become a fashion designer after seeing SATC 2. Co ordinating a pair of Manolo Blahnik with ridiculous Sahara Desert fashion, 80's looking disaster's and above all very average looking hairstyles, made even Susan Boyle look good! What were they thinking with Carrie? She was in badly need of some L'oreal hair colour, and in most shots she also looked like she had just got out of bed! A little less of the fashion eye sores and alot more makeup. Our Carrie was looking a touch old!!

They missed the mark on what SATC was all about. The movie is targeted at a new generation of 20 year olds who are more interested in the Manolo Blahnik and Dior designs, than the fabulous quotes that were inspiring, motivating and above all very funny. The series celebrated a new way of speaking honestly and rationally about sex and relationships. I think every girl should receive a copy of the SATC series for her 21st Birthday. She should watch and learn! This way it will save her alot of heart ache, and prepare her for the on coming relationship dilemmas that will eventually shape her life.

I'm not saying you should live and love like Carrie, I'm saying you can take something from an episode and some how relate it to your own life. It made you think and discuss your own situation in a way you never would have. That was the brilliance of the writing. The fashion was secondary to the actual dialog and infamous quotes.
Here is one of many, that Carrie wrote so beautifully.

'Maybe mistakes are what make our fate....without them what would shape our lives?Maybe if we had never veered off course we wouldnt fall in love, have babies, or be who we are. After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But its comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart...and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away'.

As the series evolved over the years, it incorporated fashion with the ever witty writing skills and groundbreaking story lines. Every episode became a work of art. It's popularity is testament to that. It was no less, one of the best show's of it's time.
In saying that I did enjoy the movie. Watching the 4 girls was like catching up with an old boyfriend. Great to see them, but your happy you've well and truly moved on!

Did you know?

MANOLO BLAHNIK opened his first store in 1973 in London's Chelsea. The Stiletto is handmade in Italy and takes 3 weeks to make one single shoe. 16 different people touch the shoe while in production. It is a perfectly made stiletto, so you don't fall backwards or forwards. Did you notice the 'Something Blue' pump in Carrie's wardrobe? Only $900! The waiting list is a mile long so good luck trying to get a pair of those babies!!!

Lets be honest. A woman's weight is on a her mind every single day of her life.

My weight determine's how I start the day.
The first thing I do most mornings is go to the loo, strip off to nothing( and I mean not even undies, as every bit counts) and step onto the scales.
If the digital scales say I've lost, then "OMG", its going to be a good day. My mood is instantly lifted and I have a spring in my step, ready to take on the day.
But...if the scales have moved up, then it's a different story. A little movement is despair and alot is just full depression. Having to wait a full day to see if any of it has come off is just pure torture!
I can hear you saying," Just dont weigh yourself ", but we all know THATS JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
Putting scales in a bathroom is like putting a piece of chocolate next to your coffee and saying," Just don't be tempted ". YOUR JUST DRAWN TO IT
Some people put on a little, and out of despair eat even more. Im the opposite. I end up eating less.( and believe me, Im NO Annie!)
I tend to think like this, for example.
If I was 76kilo and I got down to 72Kilo, I now need to stay UNDER 72.
If you DON'T think like this you will always give yourself allowances.
Your thinking, Ive lost 4 kilos, so its OK if I put on a little. NO PEOPLE!!
FORGET the 76 number. Its GONE! Start thinking Im 72 now, and Im never going to get to that again. Every new number is a challenge to stay under.

Be proud you are losing the weight, and focus on the number you want to get to, rather than the number you came from.
Before you know it, the weight starts to come off little by little. Losing .3 is as good as 3kg. As long as its something.
We all know our weight issues are an on going problem, but if you can some how put a positive spin on it, then maybe we can all start the day feeling a little happier about getting on the dreaded bathroom scales!

(PS- As of this morning I have lost 5kg's since Easter. Looks like its going to be a really GOOD day! :)

The Royal Children's

As a few of you already know, I have been excepted into the Royal Childrens Hospital Voluteer Program.
This is something I've wanted to do for about 4 years. Due to work, I was unable to do one day a week in the program until now. The Hospital is looking for voluteers who can also commit for at least a year.
I attended the Orientation in April at the Hospital with 120 other applicants, mostly students doing pediatrics and nursing, and then had to apply for my Working with Childrens Card and submit numerous forms for a police check, which took about a month to be all cleared.
I then had my interview in May with the Co ordinater, which I felt went really well.
My two lovely character referees (Sam & Kirsty) were contacted 2 weeks ago and must have said some really nice things, as I received an email last week to say I have been excepted and training starts in July.
Onced trained, I will be allocated to a department to work along side the nurses and all the children that are needing care.
Im really looking forward to being involved with the hospital and helping in any way I can. It will be a great experience and I thank everyone involved for this opportunity.

The Chief and I have just spent the long weekend in Launceston Tasmania.
What a beautiful city it is. With only a 15min drive from the airport, you will arrive into the heart of Launceston. It has what seems like, an old pub on every corner, beautiful churches, terrace house's turned into restaurants and streets full of great fashion and homeware store's.

We stayed at the Mercure Hotel which is within walking distance to just about everything. Friday night was spent with friends at Theodori Greek Tavern at 61 Brisbane St. The best Greek food we think we have ever had. For something a little more up market, try Terry Fidlers Brisbane St Cafe, just up the road. Just devine!

The weekend was all about the football and Aurora Stadium is only a 10min stroll from the hotel. It was only 10 degrees, so we were all rugged up with a coat, scarf, gloves and warm socks. It is freezing this time of year, so take as many warm clothes as possible.
We are looking forward to heading over again in 5 weeks for the delicious food, good company and most of all, another great win!

Another great way of seeing Tasmania is to hire a campervan and drive around this beautiful state at your own leisure. This way you will see alot more and save money by not staying in expensive hotels. Go to or phone 13000 89 666 and get down to Tassie!

Would'nt you just love to get an invite from the Queen?
Out of all the people in the world you could meet, I would meet the Queen.
I am a true Royalist and have been for many years.I have always hoped I would live til 100, so I can receive a letter from the Queen. Getting it from a King just would'nt be the same!

The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor on the 21st of April 1926.That makes her 84 this year.
Why do we celebrate her Birthday in June? (insert cricket noises) ?????????

Elizabeth never went to a normal school and at age 21 announced she would devote her entire life to Royal Duty. We sometimes forget that she is not only the Queen, but a wife and mother of 4 children. She has lived an extraordinary life with all her duties and travel, and when she does travel she doesn't require a passport. (Imagine all the fake bags she can bring back)

Lizzy met Prince Phil at age 13 and although very young, they exchanged letters and she fell in love. They married in Nov 1947 (age 21). They also received 1347 wedding gifts from around the world, and to this day are the longest of any British Monarch to be married for 63 years. (that's because they don't sleep in the same room, let alone the same bed!)

She was proclaimed Queen in Feb 1952 (age 26) following the death of her father, and formally crowned in june 1953 (age 27)

If she is still reigning in 2012, Elizabeth will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee as Queen, marking 60 years on the throne. Queen Victoria in 1897 is the only other British Monarch to have celebrated a Diamond Jubilee. (sitting on the throne once a day would be nice!)

" Long live the Old Duck and Happy 'belated' Birthday "

Enjoy the long weekend everyone

People unfortunately fill their days with unnecessary and meaningless tasks and conversations that waste time and energy, and they walk away feeling drained and flat. Look back on your day, now and again, and say,' Did I really need to do that, and what did I achieve'. If I had been more organised, could I have saved some time to do the things I really want to do.
The next time you spend an hour on the phone talking about life and off loading to someone, ask yourself, am I really getting anything out of this, and is this person lifting me up or dragging me down?
We all have a story and we all have problems.Thats life! Choose your 'real' friends wisely. Are they loyal and are we both getting something from this friendship? If not,go into your friendship basket and throw one out, and put another one in! The basket should always be full of good loyal and truthworthy friends who you love, respect and wish only the best for.
Dont waste your time and energy on anything less. If that means less friends, then so be it. At least you'll have more head space to think of more important issues.
Dont take on other people's problems that you just cant fix. Be selfish with your time and dont feel guilty about it. There is only so much you can do and say before you just need to let it go.. Everyone has their own path to go on. Remember to stay on yours!!
Stop worrying about what other people think. The day you do that, will be the day you see a change in how YOU think.People love to be judgemental. The day I meet a perfect person,I'II let you know!! Start thinking about whats important to you and what makes you happy.
Catch yourself out making excuses during your day for not saying or doing something you want to ,or should do. You dont see them as excuses anymore but just a way of life!
If this is making sense to you, then start changing the way you think and do things.Say it how it is, or dont say it at all. Time is precious and life is busy, but its up to you how you choose to live it.Respect other peoples choices on how they choose to live as well. Dont judge, because you dont understand! Put your energy into caring and listening to people you want to, doing what you think is right, and making time for things that are important to you.
Stop, sit and think about what you want out of life.Thats important!

Im a big one for saying it how it is, or don't say it at all. But... sometimes you need to think before you speak.
Here's a little tip that just might save you from hurting some one's feelings or worse, starting an argument.

Put your words through these 3 gates before you speak.
Is it KIND? Is it NECESSARY? Is it TRUE?

This gate can be tricky. Sometimes kindness is not always niceness. KINDNESS can mean these things: helpful ,agreeable, considerate and compassionate. I think the word that represents this gate is- helpful.
Are the words going to be helpful to the person hearing them?
There are times when helpful words are hard to hear.

Necessity arises from an essential need.
Does this person NEED to hear what you have to say? Is it essential?

Is it TRUE?

Has the fact been verified? That is, not gossip or hear say

If the words don't pass the 3 gate questions, then bite your lip hard and HOLD IT!

If the answers to the 3 gate questions are dubious, take time to think about what you want to say before you decide to SAY IT! or HOLD IT!

If your words pass all 3 gate questions, then feel free to SAY IT!

You dont have to use the 3 gate method all the time, but it can be helpful in a tricky situation when you are unsure whether to speak or not.

Is it Kind? Is it Necessary? Is it True? No-HOLD IT! Maybe-THINK IT! Yes-SAY IT!

Something to Say

Having read many blogs,I am amazed at people who are open to putting themselves out there, and I admire them for their willingness to share their thoughts and lives with others. I have also chosen to be one of these people.

Those who know me well, have always known I have something to say, and although you cant always voice it, I've decided to write it instead.

My aim is to make you think, create ,have a laugh and most importantly give you something interesting to read.

I hope you are inspired by the many topics, pictures, crafts, advice and words of wisdom while you are here.

So... jump into the 'Friendship Basket' and read along! I hope you Enjoy!
