SEX AND THE CITY 2
For those of you that didn't religiously watch, live and breathe SATC every Thursday night from 1998 to 2004, will have no idea what I'm talking about.
After watching the movie, its obvious the brilliant people that wrote the series, had nothing to do with the actual movie. Where was all that witty and wonderful dialog that made the show such a hit?
I think I could become a fashion designer after seeing SATC 2. Co ordinating a pair of Manolo Blahnik with ridiculous Sahara Desert fashion, 80's looking disaster's and above all very average looking hairstyles, made even Susan Boyle look good! What were they thinking with Carrie? She was in badly need of some L'oreal hair colour, and in most shots she also looked like she had just got out of bed! A little less of the fashion eye sores and alot more makeup. Our Carrie was looking a touch old!!
They missed the mark on what SATC was all about. The movie is targeted at a new generation of 20 year olds who are more interested in the Manolo Blahnik and Dior designs, than the fabulous quotes that were inspiring, motivating and above all very funny. The series celebrated a new way of speaking honestly and rationally about sex and relationships. I think every girl should receive a copy of the SATC series for her 21st Birthday. She should watch and learn! This way it will save her alot of heart ache, and prepare her for the on coming relationship dilemmas that will eventually shape her life.
I'm not saying you should live and love like Carrie, I'm saying you can take something from an episode and some how relate it to your own life. It made you think and discuss your own situation in a way you never would have. That was the brilliance of the writing. The fashion was secondary to the actual dialog and infamous quotes.
Here is one of many, that Carrie wrote so beautifully.
'Maybe mistakes are what make our fate....without them what would shape our lives?Maybe if we had never veered off course we wouldnt fall in love, have babies, or be who we are. After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But its comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart...and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away'.
As the series evolved over the years, it incorporated fashion with the ever witty writing skills and groundbreaking story lines. Every episode became a work of art. It's popularity is testament to that. It was no less, one of the best show's of it's time.
In saying that I did enjoy the movie. Watching the 4 girls was like catching up with an old boyfriend. Great to see them, but your happy you've well and truly moved on!

Did you know?
MANOLO BLAHNIK opened his first store in 1973 in London's Chelsea. The Stiletto is handmade in Italy and takes 3 weeks to make one single shoe. 16 different people touch the shoe while in production. It is a perfectly made stiletto, so you don't fall backwards or forwards. Did you notice the 'Something Blue' pump in Carrie's wardrobe? Only $900! The waiting list is a mile long so good luck trying to get a pair of those babies!!!
