Need to dress for the Oscar's?

Looking for that perfect dress?  A friend recommended this boutique to me, and promised I would'nt walk out without buying a dress. She was right!

U-Turn Fashion's in Collingwood has so many beautiful dresses, short and long, that you won't be able to  decide on which one to buy. Designer dresses range from $150 to $800 and if your lucky, you might get a bargain off the $69 rack that did have a price of $400 or more!

They also have a range of designer pants, jackets and skirts at reasonable prices, and it's all current stock.

So if you have a formal function, cocktail party or a wedding to go to, then this is the place to go FIRST, before running around and wasting time. In and out within 45mins. Job done!  Love it!!  :)

Photo Friday- Swan Lake

Excuse me. Are you in the right paddock?

Swan Lake

Mamma and her chicks

The photo's of this beautiful Swan family were taken down at Coronet Bay near Philip Island.

They were in the middle of a  paddock with cow's and a family of duck's, and what looked like 50 ducklings all swimming around together having one big bath!!

So lovely to watch them all and lucky to get so many photo's :)

SPRING CLEAN

It's time for a Spring Clean! Your house is a reflection of you!! If your home is disorganised, then generally so is your everyday life. Clutter causes anxiety. So get motivated and start cleaning.

Start with your handbag and purse. How good does it feel to throw out all those unwanted receipts and bits of paper that you don't need. Put a small box in the study for all the receipts you want to keep.

Now start with one room at a time, otherwise you can feel overwhelmed thinking about the whole house.

The study usually is the most frustrating room. Just looking at all the paperwork in our study gives me a heart attack. Buy a shredder and SHRED any unwanted paper. Clear the desk and buy some nice woven baskets or whatever takes your fancy, and put bills in one, tax in another and so on. If you can't see it, then you won't think about it. Just remember to go through it every couple of months, just so it's up to date.

Throw out anything in the fridge or pantry that is out of date. Then start remerchanising all the canned food, flours, pasta, rice etc..into groups. Looking better all ready??? Once this is done, it will inspire you to do all the other cupboards. Mugs with NO HANDLES should be thrown out as well. LET GO!! (you know who you are!! :)

Old pillows, doona covers, pillow cases and towels that you don't use anymore....GET RID OF THEM!!!
If in good condition, give to the Salvo's or let the dog sleep on them for a few months. You will be amazed at the room you have created in the linen cupboard.

Saving stuff for a rainy day, is NEVER going to come. THE RAINY DAY IS HERE!!! So.. move forward, get organised , declutter and you will feel in control again

Clothes can be a hard one. You need to be in the mood for this one. Maybe start with the underwear draw. Throw out any old undies, socks, stockings etc.. to make room for a few new pairs. New undies always make you feel better, so make sure you replace the old ones.

The closet is next. Start by filling one big bag. Throw out the jeans that are out of date by 10yrs or dont fit. Anything that is two sizes too small. If you havent worn it in over 3 years, then time to go. Clothes are a gradual thing to get rid of. If you do it every 6 months you'll find you will let go of more clothes.
For every 10 pieces you throw out, shout yourself a new piece. If your sick of wearing it, then chances are we're sick of seeing it!!!

In saying all this, if your tired of thinking about it and are constantly putting it off, then do something to change it.

Get motivated and do at least one room. Who knows, you may start feeling like doing the others. You have to start somewhere. Overwhelming to begin with, but rewarding when your finished. Anxiety gone! :)

The Teddy Love Club Walk

Sammi and I walked in the first TLC Victorian Memorial Walkathon at Doncaster's Ruffey Lake Park today.

The Teddy Love Club walk aims to raise funds and awareness for the pregnancy and infant loss support program that is run throughout 50 maternity hospitals across Victoria.

Over 100 balloons were released in memory of just some of the babies lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth each year.

We walked with over 150 people in the morning and looked forward to the balloon release that was to be at 1.30pm. Unfortunately for us, we went off to grab a coffee and returned at 1.20pm to NO BALLOON'S!!
They had released them 30 minutes earlier at 1pm (we missed the whole thing and didnt even get a photo!! :(

To make matters even more comical, my car was blocking the exit where the fire engines leave the park, so a mad dash was made to move the car before we really upset the fireman! (at least we had a good laugh)

The day didnt end the way we hoped, but it was a lovely morning and great to support TLC, even if we did miss the balloon's!  :)

Photo Friday- Ready for Landing

I took this photo during the week, down on the Yarra in Warrandyte. My new camera and a little luck captured this shot of the Bee coming into land on the flower. I've only had the camera a week, so I was amazed to get such a sharp photo. Very Impressed! :)

Titanic Exhibition

As you are waiting to board at the entrance of the Titanic Exhibition, you can't help but start humming in your head Celine Dion's, 'My heart will go on' and some how you expect Leonardo di Caprio to greet you as you move into the ship. (but not to be ladies!)

You will receive a boarding pass of a passenger that was actually on the ship at the time. It will tell you what class that person was traveling, a brief history of the them and why they were aboard  the Titanic to America.

The Titanic was embarking on her maiden voyage from Southampton London on April 10th 1912. The ship had only sailed 4 days when it collided with an iceberg. 1500 people died and only 700 survived.

On September 1st 1985, 73 years after she sank, the Titanic was found 4 kilometres on the bottom of the ocean. To this day, artifacts are still being recovered from the ocean floor and many are on display at this Exhibition. It's hard to believe that some of them are still in good condition and its a sad reminder of what happened that April morning in 1912

As you come to the end of your journey, there is a board of all passengers that lived or died that day.
Fortunately for Caitlin and I ......we both lived.

Well worth seeing and a great history lesson, and NO you won't run into Leo, but you can have your picture taken on the famous staircase and imagine he is with you!!  (ahhh..how romantic!)

Banana Custard Pies

Banana Custard Pies  -  photo by Kez

I have been handing out dozen's of these in the past few weeks, just so I stop eating them!
They are so yummy you can't stop at 1,2,3 or even 10...so here is the recipe for all of you who have asked.

makes 12 pies ( use a muffin tray )

3/4 cup sugar
1/3 plain flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
3 egg yolks (beaten)
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla exact
2 sheets puff pastry
2 banana's
ground cinnamon

Start thawing two sheets of puff pastry on bench ( should only take 10mins)

Get your muffin tray ready and line with butter. (so pies dont stick)

Place sugar, flour, salt & 1 cup of milk in saucepan and start stirring on medium heat on stove.

Keep stirring until all combined. Add second cup of milk and stir until it starts to bubble.

Take off the heat and stir in beaten egg yolks. ( it should be smooth like custard) Keep stirring!

Place back on heat and add butter and vanilla exact. Stir until smooth. Take off heat.

Put oven onto 170c

Place pastry in each muffin tin. (work quickly so pastry doesn't dry out)
Put finely sliced banana in each pie and a little cinnamon. Fill with custard. Spinkle with cinnamon
Bake for 12-15mins (check them at 12mins)

Cool and eat whole tray!!

For mixed berry pies, just replace banana with unfrozen Sara Lee mixed berry satchels.
You can also do just one big pie and slice it up

Sooooo.. quick and easy to make and they taste like they came from the bakery.

Have fun making and eating them :)

Let me know how you go

SPRING AT LAST!

FIRST DAY OF SPRING 2010
