Photo Exhibition

Over the weekend, Rach and I were proud to say that our photo's were displayed in the Rotary Club's Annual Photography Exhibition in Glen Waverley.

The two of us have only been taking photo's for a couple of months, so it was very exciting that they were selected and up for sale to raise money for Rotary.

Rach had her Melbourne City shots up (which looked like a pro took them) ,and I had my tiger photo's up on display.

It just goes to show if your passionate about something enough, it can take you anywhere!

A very exciting two days and hopefully alot of money raised for Rotary :)

Photography Course - Docklands at Night

As you know I'm doing a photography course with the Rotary Club, and we did a field trip into the city last night to take photo's of the Yarra and Docklands.

Rach and I were dropped at Docklands and this is the best of 330 photo's of the night!!

With alot of wind and a 'not so sturdy' tripod, this is all I could come up with.

Not the typical city shot I was hoping for, but happy I got something different :)

Photo Friday- Lavender Bee

This photo of the Bee on the Lavender was taken at Wyreena in Croydon.

The little bee would have smelt a treat with the lavender fragrance all over him. May'bee' he had a hot date that night or may'bee' not!! ...... hee hee :)

William and Kate's Engagement

Diana and William

It's our 3rd Wedding Anniversary today and I woke to the news that Wills and Kate have finally announced their engagement.

I am absolutely delighted and over the moon with excitement for them, and can't wait for another royal wedding. At the same time it did bring a tear to my eye to know that Diana would not be a part of this special time in William's life.

Diana would be so proud of  both her son's if she were here today, and I think it was such a lovely gesture to have given Kate, Diana's engagement ring as away of keeping her memory alive.

I have collected many items of  Diana's over the years and one thing I do treasure is a porcelain trinket dish that was released for Charles and Diana's engagement. So watch out... I feel another collection coming on!!

I will be counting down the days until the wedding, just as I did in 1981 when I was 10 years old. I wish them both all the luck and love for their lives together and only hope they have as stronger marriage as Jeff and I do as we celebrate today :)

Ladybird Ladybird, fly away home....

As some of you know, I have been taking more than a few shots of Ladybirds lately.

It has taken me a little while to work out where to find them. Where do you find them??

Ladybirds feed on aphids, and LOTS of them!! Have a look at a rose bush to see if you have aphids. If so, have a really good look for Ladybirds. They will lay their eggs where aphids are, so that once the new Ladybirds are hatched, they have an instant source of food.

Don't spray the bush with chemicals, as the ladybird does a far better job at eating away the aphids.

Its nature's way of keeping everyone happy!! :)

Rachel and Pauls twins Cooper & Matilda are featured in this months issue of Little One baby.

Rach had sent pictures to the magazine of their beautifully decorated rooms, that she designed ,

and they loved them so much , they did a half page article on them. (page 182)

How amazing is that??

Congratulations Rach. The rooms look superb and your designing days have just begun :)

Photography Course

Rach and I started the Digital Photography Course last night in Glen Waverley. The course is run by the Rotary Club with the help of volunteers that have years of experience in Digital Imagery. The full cost of the course is also donated to charity, so everyone benefits in one way or another.

For someone who only picked up a camera a few months ago, it can be a little overwhelming with all the information that is presented to you. The aim of the course though, is not only to be able to take a great photo, but also to know how to use your camera to its full potential.

We have a field trip into the city coming up, so look out for some impressive (or not so..) photo's of the city skyline at night.

National Geographic here I come!!! :)
